Water. We all know drinking it is important.
This wet stuff helps us remove waste, lubricate our joints and even regulate our body temperature! To say it is a jack of all trades inside your body would be an understatement. What I’m trying to say is, water is kind of a big deal. And making sure you’re hydrated is super simple too—just drink water! I know sometimes the simplest things can be the hardest to execute, so I have collected three easy habits you can start practicing today that’ll get you guzzling more and more of this life-supporting liquid!
AWAKE? HYDRATE!
This advice may be an oldie, but it sure is a goodie. First thing in the morning, drink down a large glass of water. Before coffee, breakfast or your Saturday morning cartoons (okay, you can enjoy your water with your cartoons), you’ll get a jump on staying hydrated and stimulate your appetite for more water throughout your day.
TREAT YO WATER
If you’re not into plain ‘ol water, have fun with flavor by infusing your glass with whole foods, herbs and spices! Get your sour power on with a squeeze of lemon juice or make a midday mojito with some fresh berries and mint leaves. This is deliciously refreshing and will leave you craving more.
BYOB, ALWAYS
A reusable bottle is your hydration bestie. Out of sight really can be out of mind, so keep a full bottle with you and take sips all day long. Find one you like to carry around and that’ll store 500ml/16 fluid ounces or more of the wet stuff. Trust me; you’ll be refilling that sucker quicker and quicker before you know it! You may even feel the urge to name your water bottle and I say go for it! It’s perfectly normal. I call mine Glinda.
BONUS TOP OFF
We all let the hustle and bustle of our busy lives get the best of us from time to time. Though three things we’re guaranteed to do each day is wake up, eat and sleep. We can use these everyday occurrences to our advantage as habitual reminders for water! Have a glass first thing in the morning, 10 to 15 minutes before each meal and another right before bed. Just make the bedtime glass is a little smaller than your daytime water for… obvious reasons. And remember, building a healthy habit can take as long as breaking a bad habit. If you expect to be perfect, you will perfectly fail. Don’t worry if you drop the ball (or spill your cup) once in a while. It’s a great chance to work on your epic rebounding skillz.
